About this Website
This website was made by members of the Cardiac Sarcoidosis Facebook group.
There are at least two Cardiac Sarcoidosis Facebook groups, this one with
the majority of the members based in the USA, and another with the
majority of the members based in the UK. Both groups welcome members from
anywhere, and are tremendous resources for sharing information and
feelings about this rare disease.
There were two motivations for creating a website outside of Facebook:
-
When someone is first diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis, they
often look to Google to learn about it. Unfortunately, much
of the information that comes up in Google searches is not
up to date with current treatments, and presents a much more
pessimistic prognosis than what many actually experience
nowadays. The hope is that this website can rise in Google
ranking over time so that people can find their way to the
Facebook groups and interact with others going through
treatment.
-
When someone is diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis, they
probably have a lot of questions about how the experience
has been for others in terms of symptoms, ICD implant,
medication, timelines, and so on. This website
is a place where you can learn about people's
experieces in a linear and complete stream of
information, instead of having to piece it together
through a combination of newcomer questions and
reviewing past Facebook posts.
Anyone with a sarcoidosis experience is welcome and
encouraged to add thier story to this site, whether
or not you are in the Facebook group. If you'd like
to add your experience (as anonymously as you wish) or
if you have questions or comments about this
website, send email to
[email protected].
